News RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 listed for $2,600 and $1,350 at Chinese retailer — leaked listing suggests Blackwell might see a price hike, at least in China

they're pricing vs past performance.

I bet the 5080 is about the performance of the 4090, so it will be priced about the same as the 4090... nvidia has been doing this since ray tracing. the 5090 will be priced over the 4090 by how much more performance it is. if it's 40% faster it will be priced 40% more.

I don't know why people are surprised, this is the 3rd generation in the row they're pricing like this.

You seem to have forgotten the 30 series where the prices of most cards didn't change vs the 20 series.

People complain about the price but still buy it, just children. Keep what you already have or buy a used card that was launched at decent price and life goes on, gaming is just something to do on spare occasions when there's nothing actually important going on

AMD is definitely going to launch a 7900XT level card between $500 and $600 this gen and there's nothing this GPU won't run smoothly

At this rate , after 10 years , mid range cards will be $1000 and high end $10000 .
They are increasing prices from Gen to Gen the same ratio of performance gain which is not acceptable .. in the past it was replacement prices ...

We are already past this point. The 5080 is 50% of the die. For all intents and purposes it is lower mid-range. Even the 970 at $330 was 76% of the full die.

People have seemingly forgot just how much better value things were back then. The market is a complete monopoly and prices are entirely out of hand. You are paying 800% more for the same thing nowadays.

Full stop. Does no one understand that there are sanctions on Nvidia GPUs and that this card can not legally be sold in China? I don't endorse it but speculation about a price of a card that can't be purchased in a certain country is pointless

If people were complaining about the rtx 5080 costing $1199. Just creat rumors that it costs $1600 or higher and then come out with the $1199 to manipulate public perception and watch people gobble it up en mass! This is Nvidia's tactics 101 kids!

The only thing keeping AMD from pricing their cards at just a little less$ per frame than Nvidia is Intel. And that is just until Intel gains significant market share. If there is no B770 expect that 9700xt price to double if Nvidia is charging this much.

It will have better RT, AI and more VRAM.Even if it has the same performance as a 4090, being the same price won't be a worse value.
But it will be a better performer and cheaper. That's my prediction.

Everyone is a child who wants to spend their money the way they want to? Nice insult.

If AMD price match on performance, people will say if I'm paying Nvidia prices I may as well just buy Nvidia!

Yeah, sure, NVIDIA is creating the rumors. Not click bait farmers.
I mean they primed the market with 4090s selling for $2500 to $3500 with end of life supply. Clickbaits price projections will fill the void and are their by default. The 4090 was also rumored to launch at $1999 and higher. No one will buy a 5080 if it doesn't perform close to a 4090 performance and less than $1199. The 5080 is designed to make the 5090 seem like a better deal. :grimacing:
16 gigs card in 2025 for more than $1k anyone? Ah yes we can hallucinate neural network ai generated textures exclusive to Blackwell propriety exclusive dlss feature set. So that make it okay!

AMD prices went way up too. I remember seeing the 6900xt for 2 grand during the mining boom. The same happened in 2017-2018 with the high end gpus.

It did and they wanted to keep as much of that inflated pricing after the pandemic. It has not ended well for AMD given they are at less than 10% marketshare. It's hard to fathom given AMD had a blueprint to success from Ryzen but they completely ignore it in the GPU market. Either they are incompetent or there is some voracity to the price fixing claims due to the CEOs being cousins. In any case it's not good for end consumers.

The 5090 is the only one from this line that makes any sense. Why would I spend $1000+ more to get a 5080 instead of like a 4070 Super? Its not even close to $1K better performance. But since none of us can afford $2600 for a GPU, I'm going to forecast that this entire series of cards will not be looked back on fondly.

There is always the possibility that Nvidia isn't as incompetent as Intel has been in the Ryzen-competition era.

Oh please, no one actually got those cards at MSRP. Actual pricing was a massive increase. FYI Nvidia's refresh of the 3000 series was absolutely at an inflated MSRP to match market pricing.
I bought a 3090, 3070 and a 3060Ti all at MSRP from Best Buy despite the mining bubble. Newegg lottery prices were pretty close to MSRP as well. It was not the norm, but it is patently false to say no one got these cards at MSRP. Best Buy was the primary seller of FE cards in the US, and every one of them were sold at MSRP to someone. The jacked up prices during the mining bubble had nothing to do with Nvidia (or AMD). Retailers and middle men are the ones that made out like bandits with all the addition profits.
