I found a 4gb msi rx 470 for $180 on Newegg with $25 rebate. Should I upgrade to RX 470 or get RX 480? What is the performance difference? I've seen it be anywhere from 3-5 fps but do you guys have any experience because $150 vs $240 is a huge difference for me if it's just going to be 5-10%.

Found an RX 480 4gb for $190

the rx 470 is a MSI Gaming 4X

Solution
The RX 480 4GB for $190 is a better bang for your buck and a more significant upgrade from your 960. The RX 470s are too close in price to the RX 480 4GB and 1060 3GB for me to recommend them to people.

So get rx 480 8gb for $229 or 4gb for $170? I'm running 2 1080p monitors, 1 144hz for games and 1 ips for animation.

It depends on the games and resolution you play. A 470 will allow much better 1080p framerate on newer games and higher settings than a 2gb 960. This is assuming the rest of your system can make use of a 470. So, in that way, it's big upgrade. If you're using a higher resolution than 1080p, or higher than 60hz refresh rate then you'd probably want the 480.
