Question RX 6800 vs 4060 Ti for 1440p?

I'm building a 1440p system on a bit of a budget. In my region, the RX 6800 has been discounted to 400 bucks (presumably in anticipation of the 7800) which is the same price as a 4060ti.

So far as I can tell the difference is that the 6800 isn't great at raytracing/dlss. However the 4060 ti has 8gb VRAM which is just barely enough for some games these days.

In general I prefer maxing view distance/texture detail in games to turning on all the fancy shaders and raytracing. But I don't know if that's gonna bite me in the ass if games start requiring raytracing or something. And there's probably some variables that I haven't even thought of. Would really appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response!

I don't think my budget can manage a 16gb 4060 - at least not without making some big compromises. I'm already depending on a heavily discounted 1440p monitor so there's not a lot of flex for a gpu above the 400 dollar mark.

I would second the 6800. At 1440p the 8gb of vram is likely to be an issue for longevity. The 4060ti is just not very appealing today let alone for the future.

What you lose in Ray tracing and dlss you will likely gain in lifespan of the card

6800 XT is about 130 dollars more expensive in my region at the moment unfortunately while the 6800's price already dropped. Don't think it's worth that much more for it?

I expect the XT version will drop in price at some point but not sure how long it'll take. Or maybe my local vendors are just way overstocked on the 6800 and need to move them fast.

Looks like msi may have a Utility named rgb mystic light. So that may be how you can control the rgb.
Cheers, thanks.

No, it isn't. Only buy the XT if it's 10% more expensive than the non-XT at most.

Definitely 6800, it has more vram and is more powerful than 4060ti. For knowledge 6800 is roughly 3070ti. But in reality cuz 3070ti struggles with 8gb vram 6800 is more powerful than 3070ti
