I bought this card when it was released and have had issues since day one.
In terms of support, AMD has given up on me, and XFX was never helpful. XFX insists I RMA the card again, even after doing so last time had fixed nothing.

Whenever AMD Adrenaline Edition or the drivers are installed, my system becomes highly unstable.
Anything that uses the GPU in any way will eventually cause the drivers to crash, I assume, and my screen will freeze for anywhere from 3-10 seconds, then, my monitors, (and sometimes the lighting on everything else in my system) will turn black for a few seconds.
After my monitors turn back on, most programs using the GPU will have crashed or become unresponsive.
This appears after a crash:
Appears after every crash/timeout.

The crashes become frequent until my PC is restarted or left alone until the next day.

I have tried the following to attempt to fix the issue or find the source:
  • Upgrading my power supply to an 850W
    • Ensuring there are 2 separate cables from the PSU in each slot
  • Using only 1 monitor
    • Tested both monitors individually
    • Stock monitor settings
    • With and without freesync
  • RMA-ing the GPU
  • Disabling MPO
  • Disabling Hardware Acceleration on applicable programs
  • Wiping an SSD and installing a fresh Win10
  • Using stock BIOS settings
  • Using DDU to reinstall drivers
  • Using safe start
  • Using old drivers
  • Tested other hardware
    • RAM
    • CPU
    • Each storage drive
      • All of the above tested physically and virtually
      • Used memtest64 and OCCT
  • Disabling and uninstalling Wallpaper Engine
  • Auto Undervolting/Overclocking GPU
  • Limiting clock speed to 2500 for GPU
  • Enabling/Disabling XMP
  • Upgrading/Downgrading BIOS
  • Updating all drivers for the system
  • Using previous GPU (RTX 2060)
    • Ran completely fine, no problems

Below is a video of the crash in action:

Here's a list of everything inside my system at the current moment:

Is there anything else that I somehow have not tried yet that may be a glimmering ray of hope for me?

What is the operating system?

Sorry for the delayed response, been on vacation.

Windows 10 Home Edition.
I have exactly the same issues with different games.
My setup :
MSI x570 Gaming Plus,
MSI RX Gaming TRIO 7900 xtx 24Gb
Ryzen 9 5900x,
32Gb G.Skill RAM,
Be Quiet 1000W 80+Platinium Certified.

It is all cooled by AIO Kraken x53 + 5x120mm fans (Corsair case).
Temperatures are good.
Under max load CPU is et 65, GPU at 58 and 74 for junction point.

I can run with no instability 3D Mark Time Spy regular and "4K" benchmarks.
OCCT stress test for 30 minutes with no crash.
Cinebench R23 for 30 minutes with no crash.
Memtested RAM with no errors.

Drivers timeout are random.
Until now I had this issue with these games very frequently :
- Dying Light 2,
- Horizon Zero Dawn,
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (managed to fix it by lowering fps to 85).

Games for which I had drivers timeout just once or two times :
- DOOM Eternal,
- Outer Worlds Spacer Choice Edition.
- Days Gone,

Games for which I had not any problems :
- Batman Arkham Knights,
- No Man's Sky,
- DBZ Kakarot,
- GTA 5

I have done the MPO thing, disabling XMP, removed PBO and CPB, DDU... Clean install of Windows 11 tweaked the power options... I have spent to many hours to figure this out.
I have not tried to lower the GPU frequencies... But I am a bit fed up.

I am a bit dissapointed, I am about to RMA the card, ask for a refund and go back to NVidia.

Had a friend who experienced similar issues about 2 years ago with his 5700xt. Did tons of testing, tried the card in my own system but there it seemd fine. The problem went away after a motherboard replacement and he still uses it to this day without any issues. Not sure what caused it but it mostly happened during heavy load.

My experience so far with the card and the drivers are that they are atleast as stable as on my previous 3060ti if not better 🤔 If possible try see if you can test the card in another system

It does sound like it's the card. If you used DDU and the Adrenalin Package is making the system unstable, then it's the card. I had to RMA an XFX card twice as well, my RX 5700 XT. The first replacement they sent me had a VRAM error and I was quite clear to them that they would be paying the shipping the second time for sending me a dud as a replacement. They agreed.

In the end, they made good because the card I bought was a Triple Dissipation (base-model):

The replacement they sent was their top-level model, a THICC-III:

XFX didn't originally believe that the replacement they sent was defective but I had a bit of an ace in the hole because I know Jim from AdoredTV. He's the one who told me that the first replacement had a VRAM error. The guy I was talking to at XFX clearly knew who Jim was because he immediately accepted what I said when I told him that Jim saw what the card was doing and made the diagnosis himself. I just kept telling myself "Just keep calm... This guy doubts me because I'm sure that he deals with a lot of dumb noobs who shouldn't even be allowed to open they case, let alone change their card." because most people make the stupidest mistakes imaginable when trying to change PC parts.

I know it sucks but it definitely sounds like there's something wrong with your card. It should just slot in and work but it doesn't. You've clearly done everything that can be done on your end and it's not having any positive effect. I think that you just got unlucky like I did.

I'm pretty hesitant about doing that again though, as they are refusing to pay for it, and have since the beginning.

I don't know what is wrong with it, but both cards had the same issues present, nothing changed after RMA-ing it.

JoeyDagger One question for you? what monitor you have and what is the resolution ?

Im in the same boat, having this issue for almost 1 year, since got the 7900xtx reference model, second one (PowerColor) , 1st was from XFXit was doing same crap.

Im asking the monitor as i suspect it might be related to the resolution/sync type.

My rig is :

CPU - 13700k - no OC
MB - Asus z790 Apex
Mem - Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz 32GB
disk - 2 x 500 Samsung evo 980 pro
case - LianLi Dynamic Evo
supply - Seasonic PRIME GX-850, 80 PLUS® Gold, 850W
GPU -powercolor RX 7900 XTX - reference model -- NO OC.
monitor - dell aw3423dw (3440 x 1400 -144hz - 10bit)

has to be driver related and windows updated fully, for compatability. i would use older drivers. for sure. and also click /start/settings/update and security. alot of drivers just dont work unless windows is fully updated. you may think it is but it is not installing and new updates. also go into your GPU control panel and default everything, and start going through again . or just leave it default, something might be conflicting. also in windows there is power options. may want to change that to maximum performance or balance. maybe you need maximum performance. also in your GPU software make sure you physics are used by your GPU and not your CPU.

I'm having this exact issue as well. My entire computer will freeze for like 3 seconds, black screen for 3 seconds, then everything that was using the GPU will crash. My audio also goes out, which is kind of weird. I have to disable and reenable the device hardware in order for my TV to start being able to play sound again. If I use my headphones though, it's fine.

I've searched for the past year for a solution to this and haven't been able to find anything. I've even tried contacting AMD support, but they are literally useless, and refuse to even admit there is a problem.

I'll give my setup as well, just in case it helps someone in the future.

MB - 470 gaming plus
CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x
Mem - 64 GB G.Skill RAM 3600MHz
PS - 1050 W something-something
GPU - 7900 XT
