I'm building a pc for my mate who wants to play a few games such as CSGO, Fortnite and Call of duty. He wants it on a budget so basing it of and LTT build guide I came up with following:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-AB350M-DS3H
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1200
GPU: AMD RX 570
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 450W Corsair

I know for CoD this will be tight but it should give 40-50fps I believe?

Does this sound ok?

Solution
suggestion from amazon.uk

motherboard gigabyte a320m-s2h 40

cpu amd ryzen 3 1200 62

ram 17x2 34

Crucial 4 GB x2 (DDR4, 2400 MT/s, PC4-19200, CL17, Single Rank x8, DIMM, 288-Pin) Memory

psu. corsair vs 450 grey 40
4 cores is a real limit nowadays, so I'd really suggest opting for a r5 1600.
What is your ram config and speed, it should be at least 2666mhz, and 2x4gb rather then 1x8gb. Ryzen is very ram dependent and running in single channel decreases performance by a substantial amount.

Is the psu a cx450? or is it a vs450, if it's a vs450, I'd give it a miss and try to get at least a cx450.

Thanks for the suggestion but the Ryzen 5 is out of his budget for now as he just wants a playable setup for as littles as possible. As to RAM, I'm getting 2x4gb @ 3000MHz

I am down to buy a CV450 but I've just looked and the VS450 is the same price. I'll see if I can squeeze in the CX450 but might have to give it a miss.

Thanks

For a GPU shop around the used market. You can find RX570 and 580s s, GTX 970 and 980 and even some GTX1060s for prettycheap.

You can also find Ryzen 2200Gs and even Rzyen 1500 and 1600s for cheap used. Same goes for RAM, just be sure to buy dual channel 3200mhz or faster RAM.

But when I add in my case, storage, fans and used GPU that comes close to £330. Considering the Ryzen 3 2200g is about £30 more expensive, how much extra performance would it add?

Not sure what the price are in the UK but in the US a Ryzen 5 1600AF which is basically a Ryzen 5 2600. As for the performance difference between the 3200g and the 1200, it would be quite noticeable. Using a 1600AF however, would yield significantly better results, (like 10fps or so in cod)

If the budget is as tight as this shop the used market. Ryzens especially 1st gens should be cheap. Also as pointed out the Ruzen 1600AF is an excellent CPU new due to its 85USD prices.

GPUs will def be better to buy used as well. Used RX580s are under 100 USD, sometimes much cheaper.

You could also pick up a power supply used. You probably can find a 450 to 550 watt Corsair CX (the grey and black label not green) or CXm quite cheap.

RAMs another thing there nothing wrong with buying used and it should be significantly cheaper then new.

Your buddy will get a far more powerful system buying used most likely.

Just had a look on ebay and there are no used Ryzen 1600s at the moment. Same story for the RAM - no 3000MHz+ 2x4gb. I've found a refurbished rx570 for £65. There are a range of power supplies but they aren't reputable brands like corsair so I'm unsure about buying one for £20. I also often can't tell if they have the right connectors.

ryzen 3 1200 is enough for games like cs go and cod. if hes not going to play more demanding games its enough. one step up would be the ryzen 5 1500x or 1600 if the price is right.
when it comes to Graphics card a rx 560 would be enough to cut the cost.

that would be 25 euros more for the used 1500x could be Worth it then he will get a 4 core/ 8 thread system.
looks like the Sellers not shipping to uk for some reason so forget that. if you cant find Another price like that.

I was originally gonna get a corsair, but because of having to get a different CPU and having a fixed budget, I need to save money elsewhere. I know it's not ideal but at least it is an 80+ Bronze so has some level of quality.

So done some more searching and have come up with this parts list:

CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
Mobo: MSI AMD B450M-A PRO MAX
RAM: 2x4GB 3000MHz
GPU: RX 570 4GB
PSU: 450W CiT

I have other parts like the case and SSD but they're not that exciting!

Could someone confirm this b4 i order today.

P.S Thanks for all the help on this thread:)
