Hello everyone

disclaimer: it is my very first self built PC; i have no experience with OC; please excuse my bad english :)

my specs:

Motherboard:
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. X570 AORUS XTREME (AM4) - Bios version F11 (09.12.2019, latest) XMP profile 1 enabled (rest on default)

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 3950x: Latest Chipsetdriver installed from AMD Website

Graphics:
3071MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (Gigabyte) (no OC, latest Driver installed)

RAM:
64Gb (2x 2x16Gb) G Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 (F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC)

PSU:
Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum (1000W)

Cooling:

Custom Watercooled; 3x 360mm Rad; 10x 120mm Fans

Resolution:
2560 x 1440

Windows Ver. 1909

My problem is, when i play games (mostly just PUBG) i get max 144fps but with constant drops and very unstable frametimes, it just feels wrong and not smooth at al, ofc especially in areas with lots of people around (hot drop or fights).
I did run cinebench R20 (9200 Points) and timespy extreme (7964) points. As far as im concerned those results look decent, maybe a little underwhelming but no big deal.
i have .hml files from my MSI afterburner logs while i performed the above mentioned tasks (gaming includet).

So to summ it up. In my opinion the Gaming experience im having ist a no go, a setup like this (especially for the price) has to performe a lot better (or am i wrong on this?).

I hope you can help me out on this and im looking forward to read your comments / Posts.

cheers

my TimeSpy results:

2080TI with 3GB VRAM?

RAM:
64Gb (2x 2x8Gb) G Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 (F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC)

2x 2x8GB. That's 32GB of RAM. Not 64.

And don't listen to whoever said this was an entry lvl CPU for gaming. The 3950x is not that far away from the 9900k

If you are still having issues
Please run 1 set in slots A2 & B2 and run cpu-z giving us a fresh scr shot of spd.
The way the specs read made it confusing.
You have 2 sets of 2x16 making 64gbs.

So if running cpu-z again with just 2 sticks for 32gb and cpu-z reports you have 64 installed that is 1 issue that will need to be solved. If it reads correct we all can move on trying to get to the main issue.

1 thing when you built the system did you have all 3 m.2's on the mobo when you installed windows?

hello sorry for the slow thread, im very busy at work lately. so i did this: Picture of CPUZ with the 2 RAM slots A2B2 here:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UqKA_XRijgG3S4I2lOQMnHKSegpKsRE7

the HWinfo shots i put in a zip cause there are a few hope its fine:

Please note that all this pictures where made in idle, nothing but firefox and HWinfo or CPUZ running. I still did not do the adivced changes in BIOS. ill do them next and post pictures again?.

is it correct that the coreclock of around 4300MHz on every core all the time in idle is normal? i mean whitout OC, should it not be like 3500 isch?

and since i did not know if you guys could take a look at the MSI Logfiles i postet here a picture of it to claryfy my problem, see the very inconsistent frametime causing the stutters at 144FPS.

This is how to get to where Crosslhs82x2 wrote, in order to "fix" the high idle frecuency (sorry is in Spanish but thats my system language). And yeah, 10-20% is good, I have it set on 5% but 10%~20% is also good.

hmh 3071MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (Gigabyte) (no OC, latest Driver installed) thats wat speccy tells me, i guess its bugged then; CPUZ tells this story that makes more sense:

2x 2x16 GB is the correct thing, i fixed that, thx for pointing that out.

"And don't listen to whoever said this was an entry lvl CPU for gaming. The 3950x is not that far away from the 9900k" if not outperform it in some things i know but how can i make it work? atm it does not feel right :( have you seen my stutter pics form AFTERBURNER? its just wrong.

I will try that :D thx it should just reduce the idle frequency right? i have it on ultra performance not ryzen balanced. is that a possible issue?

PUBG is a poorly optimized game. How does it run in other software/games? Google "stop stuttering in PUBG", there are all kinds of tips that help. I dont play it myself but my son does and there was a few tips he followed that eliminated the stuttering he was having to a minimum.

And dont disable smt. That wont help except on temps which you posted that you dont have that issue.

I just wanted to say I am having very similar issues with my 3950x system (on different games), I made a post about it in this thread. Perhaps I am having the same (unresolved) issue, and the comparisons could be useful?
