Hey. Lets start with my components:

Motherboard: asus sabertooth 990fx rev 2.0
Cpu: AMD 9590 fx
Cpu cooler: Corsair h100i
Ram: g skill 2133 ripjaw 4x4gb
Psu: corsair 750w 80% bronze
Gpu: xfx 7970/ r9 290x ( i have two, but only use one at the moment)
Hd: intel ssd 120gb 330, hyper x 120gb, samsung 840 evo 500gb, hitachti 2tb 7200rpm
Chassi: CM stormtrooper
Chassifans: 3x120mm CM, 1 on chassi, 1 on HDs, 1 on floor blowing in.

The thing is that i get this problem at random times.
When i press the powerbutton, i have a 50-50 chance on booting up and POST.
Sometimes i have POST, but windows only starts with a black screen, and a mouse cursor.
If i do a restart, by holding down the power button long enough for the pc to shut down, and press it again to restart, i boots like it should. I have never seen that one before. What could it be?
Also, i get a steady red light on the cpu led.
Also a red light on dram. Sometimes its pulsating.
When i get the computer to start, it works perfectly. No strange blackouts or shutdowns.
But mostly i cant start the pc. I cant get a POST. All fans start spinning, some usb units get power, hds starts. But no POST.
Then after like 5-10 tries, it works.
And it keeps on working. But sometimes after some use, it wont start again, maybe after ive had it on running games, i shut it down. And wait for a couple of hours, and try and start it up again, it wont work. And can be completly dead after hours and hours of tries.
What can be wrong?
Please help :)

I dont have a system speaker. Didnt follow with the MB.
But ill get one.
The pins are not bent, im 100% sure of that. I always check that when making a new pc, or breadboarding.
Im not sure of the BIOS, cus i dont usually mess around with it. But the asus update doesnt say i need to update it.
Im wondering if its a lack of watts on my psu? That the startup is requiring more from my psu then it can deliver, and im just lucky the times it start ups. Like i need to warm it up with a few goes for it be warmed up enough to function.
I really have no idea.

pretty sure i remember my board having a display in the bottom right corner near the front panel headers. should be a 2 digit LED that shows post error codes.

i used that same board with 750w running 8350 @ 4.8GHz, 4GB 770, 4 HDs, SSD, 2x 4GB DDR3 2400, 240mm liquid cooler, x8 120-200mm fans.
which GPU is currently installed?

Hey. Well this MB doesnt have the two digit led display.
Just three different led lights that flash red, and a sign that says what the lights mean.
I let the computer, just sit over night. With no usb devices plugged in. Only the psu plugged in, but turned off.
I found a pc speaker i could use. So when i was about to install it, i tried to see if i could find a hidden led display, so i turned the pc on to look for the lights, and it turned on like it should.
The pc works again.
The only changes i made yesterday was to take out 3 ram sticks. And let one stay in tray 1. When that didnt do any difference yesterday, i just let it be til today.
So, what should i do now that i can enter bios, and get into windows as usuall?
What should i look for that might be disturbing my startups and sometimes not be able to get to POST?

you would need to troubleshoot your hardware components to find which may be causing the random conflict or error at boot.

while it is working you can try reinstalling Windows to see if the OS shell itself may be causing problems. also i would check ASUS product page for an updated BIOS.

seems the only thing to do is to unplug hardware, and go from there. the bios is up to date.
i had another psu before, a 1000w faulty, a pci-e connectors were melted, and one 6 pin cpu connector aswell, but i solved it by taking power from another cable. but i had that psu switched with the new corsair 750w. but the problems stayed the same.
the cmos battery is newly switched with a newly bought one.
the CM Stormtrooper chassi panel with all the usb 3, audio, firewire, powerbutton and reset was faulty. i got the case for free. but i stripped it all except the power button and the reset switch.
wonder if it could be the power button that is making a fuss?
i know all motherboard brass plugs are where they should be.
the reason i use only one gpu is that the gpu bios differs from eachother, but the card version is the same. both are XFX 7970. but they use different bios, and i could flash them in windows, and the usb flash in a dos enviroment is so tedious, so i took one gpu out. the games works good anyway.
the windows is newly installed, and ive had the same problems with the latest windows i used. ive freshly installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit each time. same problems. different windows iso everytime, so its not that.
any ideas?
