[citation][nom]neiroatopelcc[/nom]Buggers! I never thought the day would come, but I've just ordered a game requiring steam! What's next? Do I buy an apple notebook first, or install a bunch of spyware on my system ... can't decide ... but since I've already done the unplausible ....oh well. bargain anyway. Always wanted to try out team fortress - don't care about the other junk though.[/citation]

You watch your mouth, Half Life has been like a parent to me!!

[citation][nom]misnad[/nom]Thanks Jane for citing me on the edit! But anyways, I purchased The Orange Box for around 14.99 or so during the Christmas sale. Never thought it'd drop to 9.99! But in any case, you've got to admire Steam's weekend deals... They're excellent... and thanks Jane for posting it up here![/citation]

No problem! I was going to just make it a thread in the forums but I didn't think enough people would see it in time to take advantage. :)

Bad parenting appearently does produce good children then!
Half life's not particularily bad, it's just not really very good either. But I suppose I think cs when I hear hl, and I kinda hate that game... anyway - source = legal spyware ... so I've never really wanted to try the newer ones.

I bought it even though I already own it!

I'm so dutch I can't pass up a deal like that. Now... I can invite friends over, and they don't have to have TF2 to play with me?

I'm only posting twice because of the lack of an edit button.

I love Tom's news Jane, don't let these people get you down. I always have Toms open here at work, and I F5 every 20 minutes hoping for something new.

I start the {work}day off with a pot of coffee and toms news. Kinda annoying when I for some reason don't have time for it a few days in a row - before or after a weekend, and I'll miss out of some news because I missed more than the 5 pages I can scroll thru 🙁
But it's a good way to start the day really, even with the sub par coffee we're served.

I got it for 30 dollars at the local walmart...hehe and I thought that was a good deal. Halflife 2 is a lot of fun and the episodes just add to it.

Also if you loved the original Team Fortress you will love Team Fortress 2. I get sucked in every time I play it.

Without you guys, there wouldn't be a news section (supply and demand, you understand) so we're not the ones to be thanking. :)

Also, we don't have an edit button for a reason. If we did, someone could claim Google had bought Microsoft and just edit their post to say something different when they were called on it.

We (okay, I) like to think it encourages people to stick to their convictions and stand up for the spelling mistakes they believe in.

I think you should make an edit button of the sort used by other reasonable sites out there. ie. one where you have a predefined amount of time, and are limited by being the last poster.
Many sites with edit features let you only edit it within a short timeframe. ie 5 minutes or something, and/or until someone else has posted something after you.

Just bought it. My only experience in the past was a demo cd of Half Life that I got from CompUSA about 8 years ago. I wasn't impressed.

Having played about 2 hours last night of Half Life 2, I'm not exactly that impressed either, compared to recent FPS's like Call of Duty Modern Warfare and even Far Cry 2. The graphics are ok but dated. And the general feel of the game is bad. Aiming s*cks. Weapons s*ck so far. I re-discovered my hatred of FPS's based on sci-fi (aside from Duke Nukem). Unreal, Quake, even the new Doom. Crysis - meh. The missions with humans were ok. Alien missions yawn. Give me realism over shiny graphics anyday.

I'm with ya a big part of the way. But I gotta say the first Unreal was great, and Quake 1 - Team fortress really offered a lot of gameplay hours back then. Doom 3 was too dark and boring though, and ye - crysis aliens shouldn't have even been there. Farcry 2 was okay though - except being so final (no gameplay after main quest), and checkpoints resetting in like no time.

Most of the sci-fi games end up too dark with futuristic graphics such as alien feeding pods or glass cylinder aquariums with living brains in them (you know what I mean). Far Cry 2 was very good except for 1) the repetitiveness of the stupid respawning guard posts 2) took forever to drive to the location 3) can't play after missions are done 4) missions are all the same - deliver a package or rub out a guy.

Very few people agree with me on the sci-fi stuff. Most people who play FPS love the new Doom and Crysis. Give me COD, Medal of Honor, anyday.
