[citation][nom]Metallifux[/nom]How long before motherboards incorporate a few gigs of DDR NAND allowing you to install your OS on them. Seems like a good idea to me.[/citation]
that is a good idea, even just a 64gig.. then we just buy a couple TB HDD's for storage.

"SSDs are now hitting sizes that are beginning to make them viable replacements for the magnetic counterparts. "

if you ignore the steep price tags of SSDs, then yes, they are getting near the big sizes needed to replace HDDs. however, you can't ignore the price when you actually buy one, and the cost is outrageously expensive. add the to the fact that music, video and back up files don't really benefit from ultra-fast access times like the OS and games, and replacing HDDs with costly SSDs is a stupid idea.

One day you'll tell your grandchildren, "We used to store our data on round disks that were read by a needle ... um I mean head ... and the disks were made of vinyl ... um I mean magnets." Bring on the new tech. Price will work itself out eventually. I know of no other small drive technology (eg., that will fit in a laptop) that comes anywhere remotely close to the performance of these drives.
