Hi, I replaced my laptop DVD Rom with a Samsung evo 870 500gb. it works just fine but after a couple of minutes of using it, it switches down to Sata2 from Sata3. And it's speed becomes half.
I used to have a WD Blue and didn't experience such a problem.

I have a HDD also in my laptop but it's socket is upside down so I can't replace it with the SSD nor it fits into the caddy.

Solution
If I were you, I'd have the SSD in the place where the HDD is and place the HDD in the secondary drive caddy. You might also want to make sure your laptop's BIOS is up to date. As for your Samsung drive, use Samsung's Magician App and then see if the drive is pending any firmware updates.

Upside down?

What is the make and model of your laptop? An SKU will help us two fold. As for your storage, might want to pas on a link to the secondary storage caddy that you're working with.

Laptop model is HP 15-bs182nia
SSD is Samsung 870 evo 500gb
laptop HDD is Toshiba mq04abf100
I'm using this caddy. Worked with WD Blue 500gb (always on Sata3) but has problem with the new SSD.

I'm afraid I can't do that. The HDD's socket is different than the SSDs. It's kinda upside down so it doesn't fit.

Can you take pictures of what you're seeing? You're misinterpreting that connector since I've done something similar on an HP ProBook 4430s and pretty much all laptop's that would work with a secondary drive caddy(in place of the ODD).

Sorry for the delay.
Turned out I was dead wrong about the sockets and they are the same. I switched HDD and SSD and it's working just fine.
Thank you for your help

I didn't look up your laptop but its not uncommon for the optical drive bay to use a sata2 port.
True. But I used to have a WD Blue and it was in the same spot giving ~500mb read/write.
So I found it kinda odd that The new ssd using sata2 but older one uses sata3.
Maybe it has something do to with dram or something Idk.
