Question Samsung evo 840 ssd no longer recognised in bios on Gigabyte z97x gaming 5

I'm wondering if anyone else has had tjis lately? Or is my ssd dead. My first thoughts were sata connections but I've tried swapping sata/power for ports I know work and no joy.

I've also checked for a bios update but that motherboard's last update was in 2016 - version f6 which I have.

Any other ideas?

Or in an external enclosure?

An 840 EVO can be up to a decade old. Possibly it is just....dead.

It's from 2016. I don't have another system I can check it with. Maybe that is the most logical test

You've already tried different ports.

Tried a new SATA data cable?

Then the next step is indeed a different system, or USB external case.
