Ok folks...I was just found a place that would sell a 170T for $950CAN...that seems like a great price. The other monitor that interests me now is the 171S that sells for $1050...which one's better. The 171s has the pivot feature (is this even useful?)..but the 170T in Vancouver usually goes for over $1400CAN...so with a near $500 difference in price i'm wondering what's so good about the 170T...Anybody know?

Thanks in advance for any info

i have the 170T and its a great monitor, you will love it, i hope. anyway the S series are not as good as the T or P, like the S does not have a dvi input

so the only quality difference is the lack of a DVI connection on the S series? That sure seems like a lot more money for a digital connection, considering how many people on this board and others suggest there isn't that muc perceptible difference.

Dude, the samsung P series is the best series of LCD. The 171P and 151P is currently the best, much better than the T,the 170T is an old model

Funny how if something's new, it MUST be better, as in the case of the GF2 MX vs. The MX200! Have you SEEN these monitors for yourself? I haven't read much of the 15"P, where as many seem to be content w/ the 170T for gaming, etc. I'd go w/ teh 170T, since it's a more definite performer. Also, I find that DVI and analog difference are dependant on the monitor. My personal advice is go for the one w/ DVI.

Sig of the week.

I'm quite sure that the 'P' series is great, but i can't find that at a price point that i can consider. I'm interested in that 170T for sure since it does get such great reviews, and that it has DVI, which will work with my GF3. Having said that, I feel like i'm missing something without the Pivot feature of the 171S. Am I?

Can pivot software be used with any LCD, but you just need a stand to support it?

Thx again.

Mind if I ask where you saw a 170T for that price??? First of all, I can't even find it being sold anywhere around here(except online) and the best online price I have found is NCIX.com which is around $1,579.00 I would be quick to jump for a 170T for under $1000.

I'm assuming that you mean $819 American which equals about $1400-$1500 Canadian after tax, duty, and shipping. Hardly worth my time. Anyone else have any suggestions?

hey ice canuck...it was my mistake...it wasn't a 170T but rather a Samsung 170s. The funny thing with this model is that it is damn near impossible to find *any* information on a Samsung website for this model number. That was at Costco. Good luck.

Damn :( Oh well, looks like I'll have to save up another $400 before I make a purchase (by then, they might be cheaper anyways).
