[citation][nom]getreal[/nom]Sorry, but weren't you using the exact same argument as to why the samsuck products are better? You know, higher display larger screen, etc?I've seen a lot of delusional people on here, but I think you may have just topped them all with that comment.[/citation]

no. i argued that Super AMOLED is better than any lcd, and pointed out that pentile pixel geometery , both used in galaxy S products, can be advantageous. Please read again: high dpi lcd display like retina < Super AMOLED

I'm not sure why you completely misinterpret what i wrote 180 degrees?

So Samsung decides Google services provided with Android aren't good enough and goes off on their own? Putting their own voice recognition instead of waiting to see what Google does? Making their own stores to compete against Google versions? Coming up with S-Cloud instead of using the API for Google Drive to incorporate cloud functions?

I can see why Samsung would want to do this. Apple has the complete ecosystem from the hardware to content (Apps, music, books, TV shows, movies). But going off and making your own independent versions instead of integrating with Google? Can you say "fragmentation"?

Samsung is big enough in the Android world to get away with it, but Google can't be happy about more devices having alternative stores to spend money (like the Kindle Fire) that don't direct any money back to them. I mean, that's really the whole point of Android for Google - to make them money through advertising and use of their services. Why else would they give it away for free?

[citation][nom]doron[/nom]I truly appreciate your thorough and objective examination of this crappy piece of hardware! I look forward to seeing your next replies and thumb you down automatically. Thanks![/citation]

Look samsung may be non american but at least they compete. I am ALL FOR apple, its a HUGE american company that feeds off the international industry for electronics but they need competitors. Like AMD, (whom cant compare to Samsusng) i am glad they are there to give them reason to make their product better.

Not only does it look ugly (Samsung needs to hire Asus Design), but all their "innovation" is Software based. This means TouchWiz is so heavy, ICS is almost nonexistent. Just wait and see when the next Android OS version comes how long this device will take before it gets it.

I much rather have the HTC One X.

[citation][nom]aracheb[/nom]Actually, first time i see true HD resolution on a phone even thou it is only 720p still is the first true hd resolution on a phone.[/citation]
The Galaxy Nexus also has a 720p screen.

[citation][nom]getreal[/nom]I don't think I have been less impressed with a consumer electronic device since the Galaxy Nexus! Samsung is on a roll here! That's ok, Apple will hopefully sue over the Siri rip off, and then come to the rescue this fall with a REAL phone that actually innovates instead of blatantly steals![/citation]
Of course Apple will sue Samsung for Siri. That's their specialty, sue someone for something they didn't invent.

All this arguing about devices that have effectively become fashion accessories. Most of you sound like teenage girls in a one uppers fight.

Yes it is a great phone. Yes the specs are better than an iPhone in many ways. No its not better in every way. I'll be the first to say I want it and it will be my first choice when I decide to drop money on a new phone but it does nothing more than my current phone does (as far as I need it anyways).

If you give a rats ass then talk about it. If you are going to mindlessly flame then GTFO. I expect to learn things from the comment section. Not have my blood pressure spike because little Tommy tutu thinks his iPhone is the greatest thing since cereal grains and wants to convert everyone like some crazy 16th century missionary.

Sorry. I'm venting. I meant every word I said though.

Of course the specs are better than the iPhone. Its newer. For those that haven't been keeping up on current events the latest iPhone has been out since last year. Samsung was able to say, "We need to beat that." (this is the argument I think many of you will use when the next iPhone comes out and has superior specs to its older competition). ...it seems weird that something so seemingly obvious has to be written. That's akin to you saying "My new not yet released Chevy is better than your older Honda." ...and I'd not argue that point either, though I prefer Honda. Again, I look forward to seeing one of these new phones in person.

I'm not a fanboy...that seems silly, but some of the comments just seem like they weren't all that thought out. ....some of you just dislike Apple period. (That's okay too).

Everything else aside, I wish Samsung would make a phone with higher-end build materials but I guess that's not what the market wants.

@ getreal:
"Inferior Clone".. Im not quite sure whether you are stupid or just really dumb. I say you just gave the words bad impression and false belief. A "Clone" should be able to function equal to its original host, or perhaps be able to function even much better than the original. Reason being while it was still in the process of "cloning". Developers were able to remove crappy impurities, just like the one in your useless iphone 4s.
With Quadcore and an opensource like Android, It just opens up a "brandnew Galaxy" for developers to explore and further enhance its capabilities and only promises an even more superior SIII. (which I believe you dont have the brains to imagine... Im just saying)

[citation][nom]getreal[/nom]People do, and an overwhelmingly vast majority choose the iPhone over the equivalent samsteal![/citation]

Actually, that's not correct. As of Q1 2012, Samsung smartphones are now outselling Apple. That's just one brand of Android phones. If you look at "the experience" that Apple likes to tout ever so loudly, the "Android Experience" has been outselling the "iPhone Experience" by significant margins for what seems like an eternity now.

So yes, people are voting with their wallets. They have also awoken, and are no longer buying the bullshit. Apple can no longer win the sales war simply by stamping a partially eaten fruit on their products. They will have to actually go out and create something totally new, without using other's technologies, and they will have to do it without Steve Jobs this time. I'm not holding my breath.

i don't see how apple is going to be able to sue samsung for ripping off SIRI. when i watched the unveiling i did not once hear the phone talking back to them. it is just like the other android phones voice recognition just with a few more features.

Sorry, but you are wrong. What Samsung classifies as a "smartphone" is not the same as other companies. For every $600 GS2 or Note Samsung sells they also sell a $200 "feature phone" they call a "smartphone". Samsung might not release their sales figures, but they do release their profits and from that you can work out an average price for Samsung phones sold.

Samsung also sells Windows Mobile and Windows 7 phones (though likely in small numbers) along with Bada and low-end Android phones still running Eclair on 320x240 screens and slow-ass single core processors.

I don't know why people seem to think that every Samsug smartphone sold is comprised only of high-end devices or that their sales only comprise Android phones (or Android phones running the latest version).

Apple cannot sue anyone over Siri, because Siri is not original to Apple. That's why I get a laugh out of the iSheep that cry about Samsung using "Apple's creation" as inspiration for S-voice. SIRI IS NOT APPLE'S CREATION!!! They bought it and ported it into the iPhone!!

Nowhere did I say "high-end" smartphones. Just smartphones in general. Remember, the iPhone 4 is now a midrange smartphone and the 3GS is now an entry-level smartphone. Apple counts sales of the 3GS as "iPhone Sales" just as Samsung counts it's lower-end smartphones.

well this apple fanboi just proved something else, people would rather get a cost effective LOW-END smartphone then a questionable high-end iphone. a smartphone is a smartphone/

and i bet most people do this because they can extend the life of the phone because they know can replace the battery when it wears out 😉

THEY BOUGHT IT = THEY "OWN" IT

FAIL

[citation][nom]amdfreak[/nom]Why is 4G not coming to Europe ?! Is Europe failing behind 4G countries, no 4G mobile operator ?![/citation]
Well, you already know the answers

Great... yet another cheap looking plastic phone from Samsung with (as usuall) the emphasis on multi-core cpus and big screens with lots of pixels. And again sold for premium prices.

And again that one vital feature that would get me over the edge is missing!

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]THEY BOUGHT IT = THEY "OWN" IT[/citation]

THEY CAN'T PATENT IT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T CREATE IT = THEY CAN'T SUE OTHERS OVER IT

DOUBLE FAIL

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]they bought the product from the creator so they own the product. THAT INCLUDES THE PATENTTRIPLE FAIL[/citation]

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO PATENT.

FINAL FAIL
