I have 160Gb of Hitachi SATA disk ,but its not detecting in my MSI K8MM-V with AMD Athlon 64 CPU. SATA control is enabled in bios but it wont detect in bios itself . can some one help me on this issue.
If the 160 gigabyte drive happens to be SATA 2(3 gigabits/sec)(Like HDS721616PLA380) you may need to use a jumper to force it to 1.5(I sure hope this drive has that option.). I know for a fact that early Via SATA does need this to be done(My Seagate drives had a jumper for this problem.).
I found some hope for you. You will need another system to do this, but it will tell the drive to run @ 1.5gigabits/sec

So you want Feature Tool
http://www.hgst.com/support/index-files/simpletech-legacy-downloads#FeatureTool
No, it does not having any jumper to set , when i try boot sytem from diffrent harddisk which is from IDE having a windows xp sp2 it never boot at all it gives error message verifying DMI pool data , at last it says, insert system disk
Do you have another system to attempt to use the Feature Tool to set the drive to SATA 1.5 on?
The reason I say this is my old VIA based K8V SE did not see any 3 gigabit/sec drives either. They both have VIA VT8237 based chipsets to support the SATA ports.
I was lucky because my drives did just have a jumper, but you will need to use that tool on a system that can see the drive to set SATA 1.5gigabit/sec
Hi there is a one problem i am not able to install windows xp sp2 on it but i can install centos and its working fine, while installing widows it says wrong code, any solution for this i want both os on it.
Normally that just means a typo on the key. Watch out for things like look similar like 6 and G as well as 8 and B. Maybe even have someone else read you the key to ensure nothing is missed.
0 and O and 1 and I look similar but are not supposed to be used on Windows keys from what I hear.
Its not a product key issue, when i put xp installation cd and boot from cd , it will loads the installation files and at the end i mean before starting installation process it throws an error wrong code, it does not allow me to do anything.
