SBLive + 686B = look elsewhere?

With all the problems that have been running rampant thanks to the SBLive + Via 686B combination, is it best to avoid the SBLive card? Currently, I'm getting an Asus A7M266 and a Sound Blaster Live Value. I've seen the George patch, but it seems like people are still having problems even after applying the patch. Since Creative doesn't seem to care much about solving this problem, I'm considering getting the Hercules Game Theater XP, but it's pretty expensive. I've heard that some people are having problems with the A7M266's USBs, and I'm wondering if the Game Theater XP's rack w/USB ports would help to solve this problem. Any suggestions? Should I just go for a cheaper card of another brand?

I will consider another sound card. If you think Hercules Game Theater XP is too expansive. You can also consider Philips Acoustic Sound Edge. It is an very good card and It is onsale in CompUSA for 69.99 this week.
