screen goes black!!!!

When I go to play any of my games the screen goes black and stops working.I have a HP Pavillon with an ultra 71-princeton 17"monitor.I also installed a voodoo 2000 PCI graphics card. I am unsure if I have a monitor or software/hardware setup problem- any help would be most appreciated-Russell

1. it may be your cpu speed and ram. if you do not have adequate speed to run programs, the sytem will crash all the time.
2. it may be your drivers. if you got your card with your computer, (at companies like gateway etc.) DOWNLOAD YOUR DRIVERS FROM THEIR WEB PAGE ONLY!!! if you dont, you may have big problems.
3. it may be windows. i had a problem like that so i reinstalled windows and the problem was fixed. (depending on your system, try either windows ME or windows 98. these are the best choice for gamers.)
