Hello, I have a Macbook Air and an LG monitor. What I want to do, is connect the Macbook Air to the monitor as a work setup. I would prefer if the Macbook Air was the said workstation, but each time I plug in the monitor, the desktop won't take up the whole resolution of the monitor. Instead, I'm left with black bar lines surrounding the perimeter of the screen. Also, the screen seems a little fuzzy and not clear, even though I have it set at 1080p. When I plug in my son's Macbook Pro, the computer takes up the entire monitor area, and the image is clear and crisp.

Macbook Pro: 13 in Macbook Pro 2017
CPU: 2.3 GHz Intel Core I5
Mem: 8 gigs RAM
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB

Macbook Air: 13 in Macbook Air 2019
CPU: 1.6 GHz Intel Core I3
Mem: 16 gigs of RAM
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 617 1536 MB

Is there anyway that my Macbook Air can connect to the monitor and stay at 1080p? Any questions about my issue I can gladly answer. Thank you and have a nice day.

Have you made sure that your OS is up to date? The drivers should be appropriately installed on your Mac. Also, we're not dealing with Windows 10 on a Mac, now are we? Model for your LG display? Might want to see if the same issue crops up with another display.

Also mention how you're connected to the LG display from your MacBook Air.

IOS is up to date. LG says the drivers are only for Windows, but the Air has Parallels on it, so I downloaded it anyway using the Windows partition. Still didn't fix my issue. The monitor is a LG 32MA70HY-P, and the monitor is hooked to the computer via HDMI to a thunderbolt hub, which plugs in the computer.
