Hello,
I have a seagate 5TB external HDD. Two days ago, it would not power up. It was working fine about 5 days ago. I checked the power adaptor on another different drive from western digital and the adaptor works. So, the issue seems to be with the hdd. Can something be done to revive it?

Some details: disk model number is SRD00F2. Here are some pictures of the disk once I took it out of the enclosure.

Please help.

Thanks a lot.

Measure the resistances of the 5V TVS diode (KE5) and the adjacent zero-ohm resistors ("0" marking).

Measure the resistances of the 12V TVS diode (6BE) and the other zero-ohm resistors.

If the diodes and resistors are OK, then try connecting the HDD to a SATA port on your computer's mainboard, if you haven't done so already.

Sorry for the late reply. Resistance for 5V (KE5) diode reads at 196, for 12V (6BE) at 559, and all the zero-ohm resistors read 0.

BTW, I attached the drive to a docking station (something like this one https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-5-0Gbps-Docking-Station-ST0019U/dp/B003ZUXXVU) and it started spinning. It showed up in Windows explorer but could not play any contents of the disk. The reason was (I think) that the docking station could support only 2TB max - this is a 5TB HDD.

Unfortunately, the docking station did not read it today, even though I could hear some spinning. Tried DMDE as well, it does not show up under the physical devices.

I have already ordered the above docking station (for disks upto 10TB), should be here in the next few days. Will update if it is a success.

Thanks.
