Question Seeking opinions, and a question re: display setup

Situation: I'm getting a new PC delivered tomorrow - including a Gigabyte Windforce OC RTX 5080. I dont have a 4k monitor, but i'm thinking now's the time to. I have a great 34" Samsung WQHD that is excellent for work, and when playing games it's fine for lots of titles (not so great with my old rig for Cyberpunk... 😀 ). So i'm thinking the plan is to replace my current old 1080p acer monitors i use as 2nd/3rd screens on a stand above the main one (mostly for work) with a single decent 4k monitor side-by-side with the Samsung. That way i still have great real estate and productivity for work, and a good 4k monitor for specific games as needed after hours. 2 monitors instead of 3, but all around better, and enough space to keep me happy.

2 questions - anyone got other thoughts they think i should consider in terms of setup? And probably more importantly, with a new Nvidia 5080 what sorts of things should i really be looking for in the monitor? Eg. Is g-synch really a good idea, or just a nice to have? i assume 100hz+ is really a minimum? etc.

there are so many 4k monitors, and i'm trying to be price conscious given what i just paid for the new rig. so i'm keen on trying to work out what specs i should be chasing v's not?

Would appreciate thoughts.

Would you mind sending the exact specification for your Samsung QHD display? As far as options, I like where you're going, except I would opt to use a QHD (1440p) monitor as my primary gaming display, with a 4K monitor as a secondary display, even with a RTX 5080. In modern titles, gaming at 4K high refresh rate is still unrealistic, unless you use upscaling like DLSS to make up the difference (which kind of defeats the point of 4K altogether). If you go with a 1440p gaming panel, you'll be able to still enjoy much better resolution than 1080p, you'll have the flexibility to really crank the settings, while still achieving high FPS. There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer here, and if you prefer running games at 4K, even with frame generation and upscaling, that just might be your personal preference.

For recommendations, if your Samsung display isn't really geared towards gaming, the AOC Q27G3XMN has been the king of price to performance for nearly a year now. Budget friendly, Mini LED, extremely fast response times, low input lag, and decent brightness. If you want a 1440p gaming monitor with more mmph, the Acer Predator X27U is what you want. OLED panels are the single best display technology for gaming for a variety of reasons, and this monitor will serve you well for years (as long as you don't abuse it).

As far as 4K monitors, it depends if you want something more geared towards media/content consumption or strictly gaming. For a jack-of-all trades display, the Samsung Neo G8 is outstanding, provided you can afford the extra cost for 4K and 32 inches.

Really appreciate the thoughts - thank you. I have been pondering if for now I just ensure i have a great 1440p and was looking at that X27U... the 4K thought is really just the fact that, well, with this graphics card, i CAN do it, at least for some titles. I'm not a media guy really, so any montiro is mostly for gaming, and in a work context I'm a white collar powerpoint jockey... 😛 So as long as the office suite runs, i'm good.

As for the Samsung, model is C34H892WGE - https://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/LC34H892WGEXXY/
