I ordered three SAS 15K HP hard drives for a VMWare server that I built in December. First time using serversupply.com because my company's usual Nationwide supplier had HDs back-ordered until April due to the floods in Thailand. Well, I walked into the office this morning and 2 of the 3 hard drives failed overnight less than two months after I purchased these drives.
Upon pulling the failed drives out, I double checked the dates on the drives... they have stickers dated November 2011. However, after looking closer I see the actual manufactured date is 2007. These newly purchased drives are 5 years old! They are falsely advertised as NEW bulk on the order page.
If you are in need of server supplies for critical applications then I would HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT order from serversupply.com. You are paying slightly lower than MSRP for something that is either used or old. Go elsewhere.
However if you need like a cooling fan, a heatsink, or something else that won't affect your uptime then go ahead and order from them. If you are in any way in need of a NEW part, stay far away and don't waste your money here.
