Hope someone can help here!

I have 2 PCs at home. PC1 had Windows 98 and PC2 has
Windows ME. The HP OfficeJet 85 printer was cable
connected to PC1, sharing was enabled and I could print
from either PC1 or PC2.

I recently upgraded to XP on PC1 and now cannot print
from PC2 (the Windows ME). The error message says "There
was an error printing to LPT1: for printer HP Series 85.
A printer timeout occurred." then how to extend my time.

I have disabled the XP security, and can ping in both
directions with the computers. I downloaded an ME
compatible driver on PC1. Still no luck. Ideas? Thanks.

When you upgraded to XP on PC1, did you disconnect the printer before
upgrading? If not, you must uninstall and reinstall....

Then ensure you share the printer correctly and add the UserName of the PC2
as a User on PC1.

Thank you for your response. I did as you suggested, on PC1 (the host/XP
computer). I got the same message on PC2 (the Windows ME computer), and was
still unable to print from PC2. Any other thoughts? Is there anything I
need to do on PC2? Or disable on PC1? When I tried the network wizard, it
stopped me and said I couldn't network this computer with other computers.
And yet it was working fine before I upgraded to Windows XP (I network on DSL
through a router).
