Thanks to several inside sources, I've learned:
1.) The Prescott will consume over 200W and require 100% of that on the 12v line, requiring a new power supply and a 200CFM fan to cool it.
2.) The Athlon 64 will be introduced at 3GHz, and have as much processing power as a 10GHz Prescott would. It will run passively cooled.
3.) The VIA C4 will consume less than 5 watts, clock at 10GHz, and do the same number of IPC as an IBM Power4 32-CPU server. This processor, when matched with the latest VIA/S3 "Chrome" graphics chip, will power gamers to over 5000FPS in Doom 3 at 1924x1400, 32xAA, AF, etc. across up to 5 monitors. This solution will be available in a new slotless nano-ITX platform which will measure only 25x25mm and can run sinkless in a cigarette case.
