If you mean a clean install of the OS, yes. No need to do a hard disk format, tho. The installation pgm will take care of that. Of course, there's nothing wrong with doing the format. Just a bit of a waste of time.

I run Linux Lite so I wouldn't worry upgrading the MB or just swap drive into another laptop.
Lol, i doubt he's using Linux and it's not a laptop. Windows 10 is pretty forgiving but W7 may need some drivers fixed to work properly on another platform.
