I always recommend air coolers. They are cheaper, perform about the same, and MUCH quieter than closed loops.

Noctua NH-D15 puts most water coolers to shame.

The D14 is like $20 cheaper and is 2-4c less effective but still a VERY good and dead silent cooler. For reference, the D14 beats the Corsair h100i by 2-3c in most tests.
