Get the Ryzen, more support, later hardware, better software, games will run only 10 Frames slower at most compared to most of the highest end Intel CPU's

The i7-4790K is faster than the Ryzen 5 3400G. It wouldn't make any sense to upgrade to it, even if it was to have a platform for a future CPU upgrade. You would need at least a Ryzen 5 3600 to have a decent upgrade over the 4790K. The Ryzen 5 3400G is also based on the Zen+ cores of the slower Ryzen 2000 series. Edit - Bascially I'm saying, don't upgrade until you can get a CPU that is an actual upgrade, because otherwise it's a waste of money having to buy the upgrade CPU in the future.
