Question Should I go for 1440p monitor or 1080p monitor with RX 6700 XT?

I recently upgraded to a good-budget build with 6700 XT.
Below are the specs:
AMD 5000 Series Ryzen 5 5600X
Deep Cool AK400
MSI B550M Pro-Vdh Motherboard
Cooler master 750 w PSU
ASUS Dual RX 6700 XT
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 Mhz (2X8 GB)

Wanted to know which monitor resolution I should go for 1080p/1440p since now I have a 900p
Will there be performance issues with 1440p high settings? I mostly play singleplayer AAA titles and want a decent immersive experience.
I read a lot of opinions but I am still confused, some say 1080p Ultra is not better than 1440p Medium/High, is it true?
Would like to hear suggestions on 1080p vs 1440p choice. Thanks!

I play mostly AAA titles so 60 fps+ / 70 fps+ should do, will I get that in 1440p?
The vast majority of the time you should be able to get that and more without problems. The only times you would see issues would be in using ray tracing (though you'd have problems at 1080p here too) or super graphics heavy titles like CP 2077 (you'll be very close on the fps here so shouldn't have to tank settings).

One thing you haven't mentioned is size of screen you are looking at. This is quite important as the edge of 1080p being viable is 24".

yes I'm fine with no RayTracing. I'll be going for either 24" 1080p screen or 27" 1440p screen. Sorry hadn't mentioned that earlier. Excluding Cyberpunk 2077 and maybe titles like Plague tale requiem, hopefully, games will work with 1440p screen, but I don't want to game below 60fps that is my concern. So I'm leaning towards 1080p but I heard the card is overkill for it. I've heard good things about 1440p being much more of an immersive experience, that's why tempted to buy it. :D Thanks for your input

You might have to lower a few settings to get above 60fps in the most demanding titles, but your card is good and so it's not like you'd have to go to low or anything. At 1080p your card is overkill if you're just trying to hit 60fps and aren't worried about high refresh rates (120fps+). Personally I'd rather potentially have to lower some settings and get the larger display as for me that has always made more of an impact than going from say high to ultra quality.

I've been playing with low settings in my previous setup with 1050 TI, so I think 1440p with optimized settings will do wonders. Your explanation makes sense why 1440p would be a good choice.
