Hi guys. My system currently has 1x16gb of ram. But I heard to get best performance, I must have 2x16gb of the same ddr4 ram. My concern is cost and if there is a cheaper alternative. So I ask our community experts if it's advisable to buy 2x4gb of ram to go along with my current 16gb, or should i just buy another 16gb (more expensive) and reap the best results especially when using video editing and spreadsheets. Any advice should be a huge help and is appreciated greatly. Thanks.

Could you post your system specs?
If you install 3 modules you will be running in single channel configuration.
For video editing and spreadsheets I would recommend you go with dual-channel configuration (2x 16GB), since there is a notable advantage.
You should take a look at this article for a better insight.
For gaming, browsing, booting , etc there is not visible advantage.
Also take in consideration that if you use mismatched 16GB modules it could run in single channel, so you must get a matching module.
