Question Should I update the firmware for my Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB SSD?

I've seen a lot of people saying that their drive died after about a year and I thought maybe updating the firmware would help me to potentially not have this happen. I've had my drive for about 6 or 7 months.

Where did you read these people having their drive die?

"a lot of people" is almost certainly a tiny subset of people that own these drives.
Like me. 2 years, zero issues.

Is a firmware update indicated in Samsung Magician?
If so, do that.

Yes, do it. That said, I suspect that the root problem is NAND related rather than firmware. I suspect that a firmware update merely mitigates the problem.
