should i upgrade to i5 8400 or i7 4790 which is worth it

Currently on an i5 4460 with h97motherboard and 12 gb ram ( 4+8 gb stick) with 1050ti

a second hand i7 4790 non k cost around $200
while a new i5 8400 with basic mobo and 16gb ram would cost almost $500-$550
after upgrading cpu, will upgrade gpu to vega 64 or 1070.
plan to game on 1080p only

I would get the I7 4790 and have more to spend on a GPU. Might as well extend life of system you already have.

I7 has more threads still (2 more) and higher base clock speed, they both turbo to 4ghz

how long do you think it'll last, because currently monster hunter world and ff15 dont run at 60fps at a very low resolution which is why i believe im being cpu bottlenecked
