Should i use 2 splitter with -3 5db for my modem

i have one splitter out side that runs the cable to the modem and other tvs and one connected to a tv and the modem..what about splitters that are -7.5db? how should i do this as i need to run 2 splitters...i want to get the best stable speed i can and lowest latency.. my modem is a motorola SBG901 with a linksys E2000 connected to it for my desktop and my laptop..modem has wireless but it caused problems so it was turned off by internet provider. You should split your cable in to two and run one directly to your modem. Then split the other as needed for your TVs,

I know that but I have to run 2 splitters...One outside to go to the room where the Motorola SBG901 modem is and to the other tvs in the house..and then 1 more splitter to hook up the modem and the tv which are in the same room...so i need to know the best solution for what splitters to use should i use 2 splitters that are -3.5db or would -7.5db be better

By splitting a second time at your modem you lose about half the signal.

3db is about twice the power, so -3.5db (<1/2) is better than -7.5db (<1/4).

For best performance do not split the signal to the modem more than once. The more splitters the modem's return signal has to pass through the more the modem has to shout to be heard by the head end. The return signal is vastly smaller than the downstream signal.
