Should I use any software to control temperatures?

I just build a brand new pc, and i've tested temperatures both gpu and cpu but it was ocasional, do you guys use anything to control your temps? is that a must? what do you use?

To control temps i suppose you mean control your fans to make they spin faster, am i right? Or you just want to monitor them?

Both cases, you can use MSI Afterburner, it will be plenty for any system. It isn't a must, if you are not experiencing throttle and your PC seems to run absolutely fine, no need to meddle with those things, but if you wanna be extra careful, why not?

For the processor NO let the board do that as needed.
For the video card I usually set a bit more agressive fan curve.
My case fans are already quite so I dont bother there.

You bios will warn you of high temps for cpu and will beep if exceeded. Modern CPU will shutdown before any damage.
You can only monitor your temps you cant control them as such. Programs such as msi afterburner will show live temps of CPU gfx etc and can run in the background .But if you have checked your temps and where happy with them (correct temps) there's no need to monitor them .

MSI Afterburner is a utility particularly aimed at optimizing graphics cards, especially when you overclock them. Your first post, however, seems to be more general - you want to know what is necessary for control of all your system temperatures.

You probably have everything you need already. First of all, the temperatures of your CPU chip and of your motherboard (the latter includes ventilation for all of your case) are automatically controlled IF you have connected your fans to motherboard fan headers and allowed them to use the default settings. The mobo BIOS itself has the software to monitor temperatures and control the relevant fans. To do that you should have your CPU cooler system, whatever that is, connected to the mobo CPU_FAN header. Then all the case ventilation fans should be connected to mobo SYS_FAN headers. By default the mobo will do the control. If you want to look at what it is doing closely, monitor the actual measured temperatures yourself, or even change the default settings of the system, usually you can use a utility included on the CD that came with your mobo. Check that CD for such a utility, and also look in the mobo manual for information.

There is one item that can cause you trouble with this. In order for the mobo headers to control your fans properly, the fan type needs to match the mobo headers' design. This is linked to how many pins are on the fans' wires, but it can be confusing. To be sure about this, post back here exactly what fans you have - especially, whether the wires from each have 3 wires and pins, or 4 - and the make and model number of your mobo. From that we can look up the mobo manual and advise if there are any problems or settings that need adjustment.

Regarding your graphics card, it is common for those items also that the card comes with a CD of software, drivers and utilities, and a manual. Look through the manual and CD. VERY often the software (maybe even within the driver) provides tools to use automatic temperature-based control of the card's fan by the card itself (NOT by your mobo's control systems).

Msi afterburner does more temps than gpu paperdoc. Try cpuid hwmonitor its free and full temps .
