My Ryzen upgrade - it is finally happening!

taichi.jpg

The Taichi looks like a solid board, I am very happy with this purchase. I am still deciding on which direction to go for the CPU - if I get the R5-1600X or spring for the R7-1700, but I need to get my mounting bracket from Noctua before I can go further. And of course Newegg sells out of the RAM I want to get, and it's on sale.

I just broke my budget having to replace an old rig that I had built 5 years ago for running 3ds Max and Maya. This was an expense that I really did not want right now due to PSU and video cards availability and the price gouging going on. I was able to get decent deals on both though, thank you to my local Fry's Electronics store and a couple of online retailers.

Case - Thermaltake Tower 900
CPU - Intel 6950x
Motherboard - Asus Rampage V Edition 10
Memory - G.Skill Ripjaw 4 Series 64G (8x8g)
Video card - 2x Asus Strix 1080 ti OC
Asus ROG HB Bridge
M.2 - Samsung 960 EVO 1 TB
SSD - 2x Samsung 950 Pro 1 TB
HDD - WD Black 4TB
PSU - Thermaltake 1275W Platinum

Cooling - 2x Custom waterloops
Pumps - 2x Thermaltake PR22- D5 Silent - 300ml reservoir
Radiators - Thermaltake RL480 + RL360
Fans - 12x EK Furious Varder FF5
Motherboard cooling - EK-FB ASUS R5-E10 Monoblock RGB Edition
Video cooling - 2x EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Strix - Nickel Plated Copper Water with backplate
Fittings - 40x Various EK fittings for dual loops, drains and fill ports
Tubing - Thermaltake PETG 16mm OD
Coolant - Primacool UV Green and UV Blue

I know that most will say that this is an overkill build, especially on the cooling side. For me it is about have a solid system with plenty of overhead and the ability to last, water cooling systems do degrade over time no matter the level of maintenance.

I was planning on replacing that old rig at the end of the year anyways until that asshole Murphy stepped in but that is life. I needed the rig and I needed it today.

BTW - yes the price for parts was about $8500 usd

Wow, that is going to be an insane rig. Post some pictures when you get it finished!

I'm now officially a member of the Ryzen R7 owner's club!

At some point I'll be buying a new GPU when the prices calm down, and I will also be buying RAM that is more color-coordinated for the black / white / blue color scheme I'm going for. I will also get the EVGA sleeved cables for my PSU.

Just recived my Antec M360 AIO watercooler and 3 x Corsair HD RGB 120mm fans...Yes I have gone overboard on RGB but I can't help myself. As to the Antec 360 AIO, it is great...Idles at low 20's and on Prime95, AIDA and Intel Burn highest temp was around 65/67...
