I don't think the new service is needed, but I also don't take issue with creating it. If the goal is to bring in readers and get some ad revenue, then give the people what they want.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Apple coverage at this site. Engadget is over the top on their Apple coverage. And the problem really doesn't have anything to do with the articles themselves. It has to do with the articles/news that gets passed over because too much time is spent on Apple. Tom's has been pretty balanced, in my opinion.

I think it's funny how people seem to be assuming Tom's is the one actually making the news itself, not just reporting it. If Apple doing something, that's news. That Apple happens to be more active than PC right now isn't something Tom's can control. If it happened and they DIDN'T report on it, that would be a much bigger issue, in my opinion.

Tom's doesn't make the news. They Report the news. Get it through your heads. If you're not interested, don't read it. If you're so offended by apple that just seeing the word makes you want to complain, you should look for a *PC* news site, not a *tech* news site.

Oh, and in the interests of showing my bias... I hate apple. I think 90% their products are overpriced pieces of junk. Nothing against those that use them, they're just not for me. That doesn't mean seeing apple news gives me a heart attack.

Also, because seeing the word alone seems to drive you people crazy (no other explanation I can think of): AppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleAppleApple

[citation][nom]tuannguyen[/nom]If you really must know, there is usually a 4X to 5X greater read rate of Apple related news than their are other hardware related news. That may sound surprising but that's what the stats says. For example, when we posted our first details about ATI's 5000 series GPUs in the news, it was hot, and did around 11,000 PVs. Comparatively, typical Apple news do an order of magnitude several times that. Since news is only single paged, this easily indicates that there is far more interest. Despite this being Tom's Hardware, that's what our stats show, internally, and via Google Analytics. But that's besides the point. My point is that there are some who don't want to see it AT ALL, and keep complaining and bashing about it, so I am giving them a solution--at least a temporary one until we can implement an integrated news filter system so that they can customize TH to what they'd like to see./ Tuan[/citation]
Thanks for your concern. I would like to point out that I am a somewhat experienced user, the type which I see your site as catering to, and I know enough to block google analytics with noscript, as I'm sure many of the other 'power users' do. I don't know if this weighs in your numbers, but it is something to keep in mind.

[citation][nom]Grims[/nom]I find it interesting, almost every piece Tom's Hardware makes defending their stances on a subject is almost always Apple related. I don't think anyone minds Apple news, but I have to admit, why does it seem that the headlines are 60% Apple, when they have such a low market share? Why is it other popular hardware news/review sites are able to provide such a wider range of content without filling it so full of Apple news?[/citation]
Actually they are defending their right to post stories about anything they damn well please because the site belongs to them not you.
If the content of the articles offend enough people they will stop visiting and go to other website where
gosh, shock
they also ramble on about Apple stories as well

If I was Tuan right now I would deliberately post endless articles about food preparation or maintaining a good lawn or some other random non-tech crap until all the benders, moaners, whingers and complainers just STFU and went to Anandtech for a well deserved break.

If you dont want to read about the Apple stories dont click the link
Move along
Nothing to see here

[citation][nom]tuannguyen[/nom]Do you want this or not? Yes or no?[/citation]

wow, Can we get a little more un-professionalism from the writer? Did someone push your button and say something that you didn't like?

I agree with the new link and I agree with keeping up to date with Apple news. But when we get 6-8 articles a day regarding the same product, the link becomes even a greater idea.

Now, why would you even give attention to the retarded people? I mean, how can anyone read the news articles they are not interested in? Are they some kind of robots who don't know about CHOICE?... Jesus Christ...

Really, there's a caption there for each article. If you don't like what you see, don't click it. I can see how some might think that Toms could start categorizing its news (i.e. Video Cards, Software, Apple Products) but that opens up a huge can of worms, too. What if you don't like how Toms classifies ads? Again, someone else will be happy. You can't please everyone. Someone might actually want to read an article on Apple because it might have something pertaining to Windows benchmark comparisons. I like the news feed as it is right now. Don't change it.

Tom's Hardware is correct, news is news. I enjoy reading news on both sides and truly believe that each side influences each other to produce better products. If you guys are bored and want to read Apple news else where I know of a great site. Its called iMax, you can get to it here...

No I'm not trying to bash apple, Apple bashes itself enough and it's trying to control what you do is the reason Microsoft controls 90% of the home computer market when it could have just as easily been Apple.

And I honestly don't want everything Apple or nVidia removed, just less of the iFanboi and nFanboi articles.

Just released, new iPhone/iPad/Touch OS, new multitasking, Thats real news.

If you read like the last 50 or so Apple articles or nVida if you perfer you will notice, there is not much "News" its gushing so much that it looks like Apple or nVida is flat out paying you to write it. We have come to expect quality not quantity. And quite frankly we are getting massive amounts of same exact stuff and it sounds like a broken record.

And yes, I think i can speak for a large number of us saying, honestly who cares what someone with too much bloody money had plated in gold and diamonds. Anyone with the cash to waste can pay some shop do plate anything. Hearing how some 13 y/o with a dremel increased he case cooling 15% is more interesting and at least relevant.

And just in case anyone does not get what I define as a fanboi this is just for you.

Fanboi =👎 Technocratic zealots; Someone who will totally ignore any FACTS, due to LIKE or DISLIKE of a Brand.

Examples: ATI vs. Nvidia, Counter Strike vs. Unreal Tournament, AMD vs. Intel, Microsoft vs Apple. etc, etc, etc. Just about everything has one.
