i have a 8800 GTS and i can run the game @ 1920x1080 max settings and its smooth.

Those two cards are close in GPU clock & Shader to what i have (and are prob. more efficient).

I'd go w/ the GT220 just because it can give you that added extra headroom w/ games and CUDA

The GT220 will work with the Sims 3, but you may not get everything maxed out. Keep in mind, the 8800GTS Arges86 mentioned is close to the 9600GT/9800GT performance wise.

The GT220 is brand new, but performs a bit under the 8800 GTS 320MB. Although the 1GB of RAM on the GT220 will be nice.

Here's an example of a benchmark on the GT220 two days ago.

I'd definitely agree with doing the GT220 over the GT210. But keep in mind, it won't perform the same as his 8800GTS. That particular review seems to indicate the GT220 slightly beats out the 9500GT from last generation.

So want to make sure you have the right expectations going into your purchase. :)

I can play the Sims 3 on my laptop, intel integrated graphic, t52540 c2d CPU(dual 1.5 Ghz) and 2Gb of ram.

graphic detail is set to the lowest. slow for loading time, but the game is playable, smooth enough.

Not comparable with my E8400 and my GX2 for the details and visual goodies.

If you could get a 9800 GT or GTX it would be about the same as the 8800GT.
I have the 8800GT OC and when the BFG 9800GTX 1024mb was on sale a few months back for $110 I bought one. I was blind to the fact it was basically the same card as the 8800 GT until I reached the Forum here and everyone was like "WTF did you do that for stupid!?"
so after realizing it wasn't even quite what I had with the 8800GT OC it quickly got returned.
I really can't see the benefit of the NV 200 series card below a 275 to upgrade from the 8800 GT OC if anything.
The 9800 GT/GTX is a steal right now for around $100. I'd grab that one.
