[SOLVED] Single display works on both monitors but can not dual monitor.

Soooo...I am trying to run a dual monitor setup on my nvidea geforce 1660 SUPER. I have an HDMI, and display port connection. Each one works with both displays, but when I try to dual setup it will not detect the second one i plug in. As I am typing this, I realized i could try plugging them both in with the PC off, so I will try that now. I have also tried uninstalling, reinstalling the GPU drivers.

Do you see both displays in the NVidia Control Panel under Display --> Set up multiple displays?

Hmm, no I do not. It appears my display port is not being detected. I have an HDMI-DP adapter. MY girlfriend has the EXACT same setup as I do, and hers worked just fine. maybe bad adapter then?

Update, I just switched out adapters with her, and now mine works, and hers does not Thank you for getting me on the right road. I will be returning my adapter
