So I have an EVGA 8800gt @ 650mhz core and a PNY 8800gt @ 600mhz core stock. I read that unless I overclock the latter one, the former will be underclocked to match the PNY.

Ntune shows the current core clock to be 650mhz. Rivatuner shows 650mhz for the evga, but won't detect the clock speeds for the PNY.

So any suggestions/information?

You can use GPUz to find the clock speeds.

Try putting the PNY into the main PCIe slot first. See if Rivatuner see it.

Another option is to go ahead and flash the BIOS of the PNY to match the speeds of the EVGA. Make sure you save a backup of the original BIOS, in case you need to go back to it.

Also before you flash, verify that the PNY can support the clock speeds of the EVGA.

if the evga is in slot 1, then the PNY will overclock itself to match. whatever the clocks are in slot one is what the clocks will be for slot 2 (or 3)
