There is a odd issue with FU2 Here is what I have discovered. The game will load to the settings screen I can select settings and detail of the graphics etc. when I start the game the star wars pans back and gets smaller than the game crashes back to the desktop. I searched as to why this occurs but never got a good solution.

Looking in windows error event logs show me the error is caused by a DLL file. Below is the event log for the fun viewing.

Code:
- EventData

  SWTFU2.exe
   1.0.0.0
   4ca42687
   MSVCR90.dll
   9.0.30729.9619
   5c4bd872
   c0000005
   0003ae7a
   4c4
   01d642adc4fb5322
C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2\SWTFU2.exe
   C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.9619_none_508d9c7abcbd32b6\MSVCR90.dll
   a1c0544e-1b08-4941-9b16-021f4d2c9f2e

All windows updates are successfully installed. The first game Force unleashed 1 functions as it should. I did a search for the DLL and its there.

Look in the temp directory for any log files that it may create and look at them and see what they say

Seems to me that the MSVCR90.dll is in the wrong location from what this log states. I looks at the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable it does not state its for windows 10 at all.

package details look at the system requirements

Of course not, having come out in 2008, it's for XP. Older games still need the MSVCR that were in effect when they were made. If you think you may now have successfully installed it though, I would try compat mode again.

What I download was Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.02022 . I seems I cannot
download the one the game uses 9.03. when I try search Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 9.03 I am sent to the 9.02 link here . I am beginning to thing this package is broken on windows 10.

If can can find the right Visual C++ download I will remove and than reinstall this package if than the game its not running than I am done. This is one reason I do not play computer games.

Its a laugh that I can play a 1995 game called Freespace 2 with From hard Light productions
Freespace 2 open installed and the launcher. But cant play a game that was released much later. Tells you the dedication and the development of the game. Freespace 2 open exits cause coders and gamers did not want it to disappear.

I did use the W7 compatibility mode did nothing for the record.
Not sure if it will make a difference, but a game can also be installed in W7 compat mode. It's also best to right click the exe and select administrator when installing.

Can you please explain why this is now titled as Solved? Whatever did the trick may help someone else that owns the game.
