Completely normal, they're made like that. It's usually the first or second pin from the end that's shorter depending on the card.

The whole PC or just the graphics? If the screen goes black but the PC remains on then it's most likely related to the GPU. If the entire system is shutting down, it's a much different problem that could have any number of causes, but usually isn't GPU related. Try to provide as much info as possible about what your PC is doing exactly
