Close on the heels of LG launching its own 84 inch 4K giant, Sony has also joined the fray. That TV makers are investing the time and energy, not to speak of money, in the 4K technology may well mean its wider adoption in a few years. What I find most interesting is that with this TV, Sony have also adopted the passive 3D technology - mostly recognized with LG 3D TVs. This is a significant vote of confidence in passive flicker free 3D glasses.

It will easily take atleast 3-4 years till 4K content is actually available. Till that time, this set and the 4K UD 3D TV by LG are not going to be fully utilized as per their capabilities.

So finally Sony has switched to passive 3D in this humongous 4K 3D TV of theirs. But the design leaves you wanting more in comparison to LG's 4K Cinema 3D TV. On the other hand, the sound system with a 50W output would pack a neat punch for getting the cinematic experience.
