Hello!
My first post in th 🙂

After the release of cs4 and avid mc3 i decided to upgrade to vista64 .
I have two machines the one with m-audio 410 firewire and the other with audigy 2zs ppro.
Speakers on the one with creative are logitech z-5500 connected via optical.
And now the problem begins.
Creative and m have beta drivers for vista 64
I cant get 4 discrete channels when i do a speaker check in vista.
Like when i try to use surround encoder in audition 3 only two channels work (L+R)
Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you in advance !!

Ps. I know about the Daniel K drivers but i dont know if they will fix my problem or if it is safe to use them.

Well first thing you should know about surround sound and games combined with Vista. Vista doesn't support EAX sound which most games use.

You can buy an Asus Zonar soundcard and they have software that emulates EAX sound and is supported by Vista. Also I think Creative does have a new sound card that also does the same. But I think your out of luck with the older card.

Edit: I should ad the Zonar doesn't support surround sound in games using the optical connection. It will for other sources like DVD's but not games you would need to hook it up to use the direct connection on your Z5500's. Speaking from experiance here as well. There emulated EAX surround sound in games is excellent.

also creative does have emulation software out not that they call the Creative ALchemy Project that will emulate EAX as well. it is a free download for Audigy cards and up but if anyone has a soundblaster live there will be a small fee for it.

Vista definitely does support EAX effects.
My sound card is a x-fi faltal1ty, having no issues, and I am running Vista 64.

I have EAX working in creative media source player 5, windows media center, and all games that I have that support EAX.

Try looking for newer drivers from creative. You might also want to try running Windows Update.

Yes sorry rodney_ws // age you see 🙂
Hmm i have nothing to do with games.
You say that to get four discrete channels in speaker test in vista 64 i have to have EAX support?
