Sound recorder that came with windows xp

Solution

Seems to be a conflict of opinion. MS Guy says it won't work; However, a user says it does. Here is what the user did.

I just copied sndrec32.exe from an XP machine onto my Win7 64-bit install and it works great!

I dont need any thing that complicated, Ive tried it before but I have cakewalk 1.5 and that will work once I figure it out, Just want the old recorder that came with 98, XP.

Hi ksiemb, that reply you mentioned about getting sound recorder to work with windows 7, would you be able to elaborate further? I'm running windows 7 32 bit with 4gb ram and getting the message when trying to edit a recording using sndrec32...not enough memory to complete task. Is there an enviorment setting I can apply to fix this problem?

Or how did that user get his to work on a 64 bit machine?

Any help would be appreciated.
