With the SB Live Mp3+5.1 & the SB Live X-gamer 5.1 ....... Are these cards identical with it being just the software that gives them the diff. names ?

Yes'm, the only SB Live that is physically differenet is the Platinum setup, but this is only because of the Live Drive I/II that mounts in a 5 1/4" bay. The actual sound card inside the PC is identical.
