Spacebar issue on toshiba portege 835

Spacebar becoming unreliable on 2 yr. old laptop very well kept with no. Abuse and infrequent travel. Hard to use to write letter or memo now. Spacebar works erratically.
Any fixes to this.? Is it software issue? Need I send it in for service....I'm mot able to fix things like this.

99 to 1 it's a hardware issue. 50-50 that any local PC shop could fix it for you instead of having to replace the kbd.
