I have a reaktek speaker that came with the laptop (HP SPECTRE).
I recently installed Focusrite Scarlett and suddenly I have this icon that shows up at the top left corner of the screen, see picture.
And it keeps auto-muting. So every time I increase the volume, this icon slowly moves the bar down until it mutes the computer.
I uninstalled Focusrite and I reinstalled realtek driver and restarted the computer - but it's not helping.

What audio output device is currently selected? Did the interface work when you were using it for playback?
The interface would essentially become the audio playback device, so if you aren't using it then windows may need you to revert back to the realtek speaker device prior to playback

The audio output is Realtek. It is the only option (I uninstalled Focusrite). RealTek is the only option that is available right now and it defaults to it.
But the problem doesn't go away.
I scanned the hard disk for viruses and it returns no issues.
