Speedfan detects GPU temp but not GPU fan

Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0
GPU: Gigabyte OC'd GTX 770
Windows 8.1

I'm sure that the fan is working just fine as the GPU temps are well under control, but I would like to be able to monitor its activity. Is there any way I can get Speedfan to detect the fan and its speed?

get hwinfo or msi afterburner or whatever the asus tool is, I'm sure gigabyte has a similar tool to monitor/change all of that stuff I've just never used it.

msi afterburner would be the obvious choice for me
