Question [SSD] Disk Managements says I have 96gb of free space but shows a different number

Basically, when I went to check in Disk Management I saw that I have at least 96 billion bytes (which I assume equals to 96gb) but on the right side of it, it shows less than that. Is this normal?


SSD: WDC WDS240G2G0A-00JH30
OS: Windows 10

storage manufacturers use 1 000 000 000 as GB, while computer uses 1024x1024x1024 which is 1 073 741 824bytes.

this should explain the difference, it is completely normal

It's normal. Your assumption is wrong.
96 billion bytes = 96'000'000'000 /1024/1024/1024 = 89.407 GB.
1GB = 1024 MB
1MB = 1024 KB
1KB = 1024 B
