I'm wanting to optimize my 10 year old Intel CA810E motherboard/pentium III@664 Mhz/(XP pro sp2) with a second Hard Disc Drive to speed up the paging. Obviously I don't need huge video or gaming capacity. The existing drive is 37Gb with over 50% freespace. I've cleaned and defragged as much as seems possible with PIRIFORM freeware.
Onboard Ram is maxxed out at a meager 512 Mb. Can I use a Solid State Drive (SDD) as a second drive in my PATA/IDE (40 pin) system or do I have to stick with a rotating disc? Perhaps a USB port could be used. I hate throwing things away..
I love the idea of non-mechanical HDD....a glaring oxymoron....or am I the moron?......TIM
