I recently upgraded a pc with a new GPU (gtx 950 - gtx1050), CPU (i5 6600 - i7 7700), Motherboard (asus prime b450m a - asus rog strix b250g)
Unfortunately after the transition the PSU started smoking so i immediately took it out and replaced it (I triple checked and everything else is still working fine after the incident). the problem lies with the SSD (which has windows 10 on it), i plugged it back in to start my newly upgraded pc and it booted straight to the BIOS menu. Nor the SSD or HDD is being picked up under boot devices. i have tried all relevant settings in the bios menu to no avail and have also made a windows 10 boot key and tried reinstalling but it wont allow me to select the SSD as a place to store windows 10 (however the SSD is under browse locations proving its connected, its just not showing up under anywhere else and cant be selected as a viable option). I should mention that the version of windows on the SSD is in fact a free upgrade version from back when they were being handed out, i should also mention i do have a laptop with a windows 10 key which i'm fine with using if necessary (school laptop but not essential this year).
I am more than likely going to plug the SSD into a separate pc, completely wipe it and install the laptops windows 10 on it (assuming it picks up the SSD after a format). however if anyone can help me with an alternative solution which doesn't require me to render my school laptop useless until i can buy another windows 10 copy (I'm a student AKA poor) then please, any tips or confirmations about my assumption would be greatly appreciated.
p.s.i cant provide pictures but can find something on google images as a reference if needed.
