I am getting a new ssd tomorrow and need to know how to put the os on there so my pc will load up faster and how to transfer games onto it ?

Solution
OK...try this and see if it works:

-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should...

i have only 54gb now and it still doesnt work http://i65.tinypic.com/2rrtl5z.jpg

Windows defrag. This function goes through the HDD, and puts all the blocks in (mostly) one contiguous space.

could it be that i have not inistilised/formatted the ssd yet ??

Maybe the Initialization.
Formatting will happen during the clone operation, so you don't need to worry about that.

okay shall i stop the defrag and initialize the ssd then try the cloning again ??

No, let that defrag run. It can't hurt.

it looks like its going to take all night

I am not familiar with Macrium Reflect, but is it possible it is trying to clone the unused space as well? In Acronis True Image, there is an option to back up sector by sector which I believe includes unused space.

As for the videos and pictures, can't those be moved to a partition on the C drive that will not be cloned to the SSD? USAF knows more about this than I do, so I don't want to mess you up or lose data, but I think your best bet would be to shrink the partition on C drive after moving videos pictures, documents, etc to a new partition, and then clone the "shrunk" partition.

Macrium generally only looks at the actual used space.

As far as shrinking/partitioning and moving data, I was hesitant to suggest that, because that is a whole other level of complexity and possible total loss if things go south.

ive defraged and initialized the drive but still cant clone

In the Macrium window, click on "Advanced Options"
Verify that "Perform an Intelligent Sector Copy" is selected.
This specifically refers to cloning to a partition that is smaller than the source partition.

"Intelligent sector copy
Copy only file system sectors/clusters that are in use. This reduces the time to create the clone as unused file system clusters are not copied."

Good point, since it appears that this data is not backed up anywhere else and the OP does not appear to have an external drive to back up to prior to partitioning and shrinking.

Samuel: Is your computer on a home network where you could temporarily copy the videos and pictures to another computer's storage?

yes it its a home computer

No, what I was asking is this computer part of a HOME NETWORK where you could back up (copy/paste) the videos and pictures to another computer on the home network.

If you click on the "start" icon, then "this pc" icon, under "desktop", do you see "network"? If you can expand "network", you should see the other computers on the network (provided they are turned on).

no its not i am currently trying another programme for the cloning i will get back to you to let you know if it was succesful

i have cloned my drive but i cant boot my pc off the ssd only when i plug my hdd in

'Aomei Backupper' ?
No idea...never used that one.

yes alot of people have used it on channels i watch on youtube how do i fix the issue ?

or should i factory reset my pc to give me a fresh start becasue ive removed nearly everything

Since you are pretty much down to a bare install...I would start over with a true clean, bare, install.

That will work absolutely 100%. (Assuming the new SSD is fully functional)

Disconnect ALL drives except for the SSD.
Install on that drive.

Before you do this, obtain and save to a USB any drivers you may need. Primarily, the driver for the motherboard LAN adapter.

i cant unplug hdd because i cant do anything when i unplug it i will have to factory rest the pc and unplug it half way through
