Alright, my problem is with my ssd on boot. Right now my OS (W7) is on my ssd, the problem is, my ssd sometimes does not show up in bios on the boot priority list, then it sometimes will show up. This is preventing me from starting up normal. I understand that ssd has to be achi in the bios settings. But when I do start up I am getting 'Windows boot manager' due to not recognizing my ssd. I am at a loss. before installing my OS do i need to go into my bios and set my drive to Ahci, ide, or raid?

I have switched out my sata cables multiple times, I've gone in to bios and set boot priority to my ssd, when it does see it...could this more or less be a failing ssd?

Hey there, Jmbrown0311!

I'd recommend you try resolving the issue by resetting BIOS. This procedure will get your settings back to factory defaults, so you'll just need to reconfigure the SATA mode for the SSD to AHCI again. If that doesn't help, go to your motherboard's official website and check for any BIOS version updates and make sure you have the latest one. If you will have to update it, follow the instructions in your mobo's manual. so that everything runs smoothly with the upgrade.

If the SSD is still not responding properly, I'd recommend you attempt to connect it to a different computer and check how it will get recognized there.

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting! Good luck! :)

Ok, yeah I will definitely try that. The funny thing is, is that it worked perfectly when I was using it in my AMD build before I switched over to this intel build. It has thrown me for a loop to be honest, because it had been working perfect on that AMD build. Now it will sometimes boot up normally, then other times it will say missing boot driver or something like that, then I'll restart it and then it will boot up. I could have installed windows onto the SSD using the wrong driver setting in BIOS, I will try what you have suggested.

i had this happen too me and heres what samsug told me too do check the ssd firmware then try doing a power cycling of the sdd by taking out the ssd for 30mins then put it back in but make sure the bios is set for ACHI but didnt work so samsug sent me new ssd over night worked grate also if u do update ur bios make very sure its the right bios update (if wrong will kill ur motherbord)!!!!!!

In this case, I'd recommend you check your chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's official website and make sure you manually update them from there. All your SATA controller & hardware drivers should be updated from there, actually. Unfortunately, Windows Updates tend to install more generic and a bit outdated drivers that could be causing these issues as well.

Hope it helps. Best of luck! :)
